Privacy Policy

Last updated August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how 5Types handles your personal information. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service.

1. Who we are

5Types (“5Types,” “we,” “us”) is a personality and Human Design application operated by Erin Claire Jones, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use 5Types, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at hello@5types.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and identity. Your name and email address, handled through our authentication provider when you sign in with email or a connected sign-in account.
  • Birth data. The birth date, birth time, and birth place (and the derived time zone) you provide so we can calculate your chart. This data is central to the service and is treated with care.
  • Charts and relationships. The charts you generate and any relationships you create — including names and birth details you enter for other people you choose to add.
  • Chat and content. The messages you send to the assistant, saved replies, and other content you create in the app.
  • Billing information. If you subscribe or buy credits, our payment processor handles your payment details. We do not store full card numbers; we keep a customer and subscription identifier and your plan status.
  • Communications. If you email us or sign up for our newsletter, we keep your email address and the content of your message.
  • Technical data. Limited information necessary to run and improve the service, such as session cookies, first-party product analytics events, and standard server logs. Signed-out product activity may carry a random browser-tab session identifier, but not a name, email address, birth data, or raw IP address. Before an account is created, these events may include normalized page and product-action labels (for example, “home,” “chart submitted,” or “weekly transit personalized”), never raw URLs, prompts, or birth details. The browser locally remembers those random identifiers so we can attach only the number of prior sessions—not the identifiers themselves—to the new account.
  • Advertising measurement. We run ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and our site loads Meta’s measurement pixel so we can tell which ads bring people to 5Types. The pixel sets a cookie and reports a small set of milestones — a page view, a chart lookup, viewing our pricing, starting checkout, creating an account, and subscribing — along with the technical data Meta collects automatically, such as your IP address and browser. We never send Meta your name, email address, birth data, chart contents, or anything you write to the assistant. This is the only third-party tracker on the site; we use no other advertising or analytics networks.
  • Public activity. The first name, Human Design type, and a flag representing the birthplace country of a chart looked up on 5Types may appear in the public activity feed. Birth date, birth time, exact location, chart IDs, links, and the person who ran the lookup are not shown. Signed-in members can hide every chart saved to their account from the feed at any time in Settings. Anonymous lookups may also appear, without an account identity or a link to the chart.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Calculate your chart and generate the readings and content you request.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the service, including the assistant.
  • Process subscriptions, credit purchases, and billing.
  • Respond to your messages and provide support.
  • Send you transactional messages and, if you opt in, our newsletter.
  • Display limited lookup activity when you leave that optional account setting enabled.
  • Measure how well our ads work, so we know which campaigns bring people to 5Types.
  • Protect the service, prevent abuse, and comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private chart or chat content to show you advertising. The only information our advertising platform receives is the ad-measurement data described above: whether an anonymous visit reached a milestone such as running a chart or subscribing. Under some state privacy laws, sharing even that counts as “sharing” for targeted advertising — see “Cookies” for how to block it.

4. AI processing

The 5Types assistant is powered by large language models from third-party AI providers. To generate a response, we send the relevant context — your message and the chart data needed to answer it — to the AI provider handling that request. We never send your email address or billing details to these AI providers.

These providers act as our service providers and process your data only to generate responses for you. Under our agreements with them, they do not use your data to train their AI models.

5. How we share information

We share information with the service providers that help us run 5Types. Each receives only the data needed for its function, including providers for:

  • Authentication and account management.
  • Payment processing and subscription billing.
  • The AI models that power the assistant.
  • Birth-place lookup and time-zone calculation.
  • Transactional and newsletter email delivery.
  • Database hosting and file storage, where your account and chart data are kept.
  • Hosting, infrastructure, rate limiting, and background processing.
  • Management of our encyclopedia content (read-only; no personal data is sent to it).
  • Advertising measurement, so we can tell which ads bring people to 5Types.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies

We use the cookies necessary to operate the service: a session cookie from our authentication provider to keep you signed in, and a 30-day session token used to associate charts you look up before creating an account. To count signed-out product activity, we keep a separate random identifier in browser session storage for each browser-tab session. Browser local storage remembers those random session identifiers until account creation so we can save only the prior-session count; the local history is then cleared. Our own product analytics set no cookie at all.

We also set one advertising cookie: Meta’s measurement pixel, which lets us see which of our ads brought a visitor to 5Types. It is the only third-party cookie on the site. You can block it with a browser that blocks third-party trackers, an ad blocker, or your Meta ad-preference settings — nothing on 5Types depends on it, and blocking it changes nothing about how the service works for you.

7. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your charts, relationships, chat history, saved replies, and associated records, and cannot be undone. Some records may persist for a limited time in encrypted backups or where we are legally required to retain them. To unsubscribe from our newsletter, use the link in any newsletter email or contact us at hello@5types.com.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of marketing and of the sharing of your information for targeted advertising. You can update much of your information in Settings, block our one advertising cookie in your browser (see “Cookies”), or exercise these rights by contacting us.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email hello@5types.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Children

5Types is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old to use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International users

We operate in the United States, and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. By using 5Types, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of 5Types after an update means you accept the revised policy.
